Claude Duet and ChatGPT Dots are both always-on AI agents: they keep working in the background, check your apps and come back to you when something needs a decision. Both launched this autumn. The catch for readers in Europe: neither is available on a personal plan here yet. Details below come from Anthropic's and OpenAI's own pages, checked on November 8, 2026.
The short answer
- Claude Duet: included in Claude Pro ($20), Max and Ultra, but US only and by waitlist
- ChatGPT Dots: included in ChatGPT Pro (from $100) and Business Premium, but personal Pro accounts in the EEA, UK and Switzerland are excluded
- In Europe today: only a ChatGPT Business Premium workspace (or an eligible Enterprise workspace) gets Dots
- No personal plan in Europe? Use scheduled tasks in Claude or ChatGPT, or build your own background agent with n8n (see below)

What Claude Duet Does
Claude Duet is a separate app. Each morning it sends you a short brief from your email and calendar, then checks your connected apps every few hours and messages you only when something needs you. You can hand it bigger jobs too, such as a research brief, a financial model or a slide deck.
It uses the memory, skills and connected apps from your Claude account, and it works on its own computer in the cloud, so it keeps going after you close the app. Before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document or deletes anything, it shows you what it will do and waits for your approval.
Who can use it: Claude Pro, Max and Ultra subscribers with a US Claude account, after an invitation from the waitlist. It is included at no extra cost during the preview. Team and Enterprise plans are not included yet, and Anthropic has not given a date for other countries. Read our full guide: how to join the Claude Duet waitlist.
What ChatGPT Dots Does
A dot is a personal agent inside ChatGPT. OpenAI says it has its own cloud computer, learns from your feedback over time and can work toward your goals 24/7. It can research, analyze data, prepare documents and build software, using context from your past conversations.
Your first dot is included in ChatGPT Pro or Business Premium at no extra cost. Talking to your dot doesn't count toward your ChatGPT usage limits, but tasks it starts in Codex or ChatGPT Work count as usual. In workspaces, a dot can also join Slack and Microsoft Teams.
Who can use it: ChatGPT Pro 100, Pro 200 and Pro 500 users aged 18 and older outside the EEA, UK and Switzerland, and Business Premium users in supported ChatGPT regions. Enterprise, Edu and Healthcare workspaces get dots by default from November 18, 2026, unless an admin opts out.
Can You Use Them in Europe?
Personal Claude account in France, Germany or the UK
Claude Duet: no. It is US only during the research preview. No date has been announced.
Personal ChatGPT Pro account in the EEA, UK or Switzerland
ChatGPT Dots: no. OpenAI excludes these regions for Pro. No date has been announced.
Company on ChatGPT Business Premium
ChatGPT Dots: yes, in supported ChatGPT regions, subject to workspace eligibility.
Company on ChatGPT Enterprise
Yes, if your admin allows it. Dots become available by default on November 18, 2026, and new dots support inference residency in the EU.
What to Use Instead in Europe (Today)
You can get part of what these agents do with tools that already work in Europe:
- Claude Pro scheduled tasks: ask Claude to prepare a daily summary or a draft at a set time. Pro includes "hand off and schedule tasks" and connected apps
- ChatGPT scheduled tasks: available on Plus, Pro and Business. A task can run at most once per hour
- Build your own background agent with n8n: a Gmail trigger, an AI step and a "create draft" step give you a simple inbox assistant that runs while you sleep
- Ask your company about Business Premium: Business Premium and eligible Enterprise workspaces are the only ways to get Dots in Europe today
Start with n8n if you want control
n8n runs your workflow on a schedule or when an email arrives, and you decide exactly what it can do. It is not as smart as Duet or Dots, but it works in Europe now. New to n8n? Follow our n8n for beginners guide.
